Smooth Sailin’
Smooth Sailin’ marks our first major campaign with Honda Australia. It brings to life a bold and beautifully executed demonstration of Honda’s engineering mastery, through a real-world stunt designed to prove the vehicle’s defining feature: an exceptionally smooth drive.
At the heart of the idea is a simple but powerful test. A vinyl record plays atop a turntable mounted on the roof of the moving CR-V, as it travels at speed. If the drive is truly as smooth as claimed, the record won’t skip a beat. Crucially, this wasn’t simulated or enhanced through visual effects, the stunt was performed and filmed for real, reinforcing the authenticity behind Honda’s product promise.
We wanted to create something that felt as effortless and refined as the CR-V drive itself. The idea of using a real record player became the ultimate demonstration—simple, elegant, and impossible to fake. It’s a piece of storytelling that lets the product speak for itself.
Set to the soulful track Smooth Sailin’ by The Isley Brothers, the film captures a dreamlike, flowing journey through an open landscape. The visual metaphor executed by Rabbit and Kiku Ohe, underscores the vehicle’s quiet confidence and composure, while immersing viewers in the sensory experience of the drive itself.
The integrated campaign is now live across TV, BVOD, cinema, digital, social, and retail, supported by a suite of still imagery captured during the live stunt.
